1. Soap industry
Rosin is steamed and boiled together with soda ash or caustic soda to form rosin soap. Rosin soap has a strong cleaning power, is easily soluble in water, can dissolve grease and is prone to foaming. Rosin is sticky and can prevent soap from cracking or going rancid and deteriorating.
2. Papermaking industry
Rosin is used as a papermaking glue in the papermaking industry. Rosin and caustic soda are used to make sodium rosin soap, which is the sizing compound. When the sizing compound is mixed with pulp and alum is added, the rosin becomes free resin acid particles insoluble in water and adheres to the small fibers. When the pulp is rolled and heated on a drying cylinder, the rosin softens and fills between the fibers. This process is called "sizing" or "applying sizing". After the paper is "glued", its water resistance can be enhanced, ink penetration can be prevented, strength and smoothness can be improved, and elasticity can be reduced.

Since an oxide film is formed on the surface of metals when they come into contact with air, the higher the temperature, the thicker the oxide layer. Flux is a specialized material for removing oxide films and is also known as fluxing agent. Flux has three major functions:
